Man Holding a Jug, ca. 1660, Oil on canvas, 19 3/8 x 15 3/8 in. ( x cm), Paintings, Michiel Sweerts (Flemish, Brussels 1618–1664 Goa), A moment’s glance at a tavern habitué allows the painter to display his remarkable gifts for describing character as well as physical substances and light effects.
