An enamelled snuffbox, German or French, circa 1750. Rectangular container of enamelled copper with lightly cambered, hinged lid. Fire gilded mountings. Every side has trompe l'oeil painting with cards, copper plate script, and love letters in the French language, surrounded by rocaille and floral ornamentation in slight relief. There is a lady's portrait on the inside of the lid. On each side there is a ca. 22 mm round opening for a missing inset(?).
