Gastric petechiae. Close-up of the lining of the stomach, showing the presence of gastric petechiae. These are small spots caused by minor bleeding from broken capillaries. This may be a sign of erosion of the stomach lining as a precursor to a gastric ulcer. Causes include the use of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin.
