We can see also that the middle panel turned towards thespectator represents The Slaughter of the Innocents, and that The Judgmentof Solomon and The Adoration of the Wise Men are the subjects respect-ively of the right and left panels. The Dove of Peace broods over thefont. Each column is wreathed with the acanthus or the lily. There is asolidity and strength in the architectural arrangement which satisfies the eye. The columns seemworthy supportersof the heavy entab-lature, while thefinish of detail isnever allowed tomask the construc-tion.
