Outbuilding in Carreg Fawr farmyard, Bardsey Island, used as a chapel for visitors, pilgrims & those on retreat; another is used as a hermitage/retreat house. Sister Helen Mary lived there as a hermit for 15 years and this was her oratory. Carreg is one of the 'model farms' built 1870-75 by Lord Newborough. Artist & writer Brenda Chamberlain lived on Bardsey 1947-61, mainly in Carreg farmhouse; she described her experiences in the book Tide-race published in 1962.
