Chiang Mai, Thailand - 25 October 2014. Mass release of 'khom loy' (floating lanterns) at Mae Jo.

The Loy Krathong Festival, which takes place at the full moon of the twelfth lunar month (October or November) each year, is Thailand's second most important festival (after Songkran), but also its loveliest. People float small rafts decorated with flowers, incense sticks and candles, on the river, as a way of thanking the Goddess of Water, Mae Khong Kha, for providing a bountiful harvest.
