One Tree Hill, Cornwall Park, Auckland, North Island, New Zealand

Up until 2000 the Monterey Pine (as seen in the image) was next to the obelisk. However the tree was attacked twice with a chainsaw by a group of Maori protestors (partly because it was not a Native New Zealand species and considered an insult). After the second incident, in 2000, the tree was so badly damaged it was unable to recover and so it was removed because of the danger of it dying and falling current nickname for the site is No(ne) Tree Hill.
