The nifirmities in-cident to advancing years prevent him from ac-tively superintending his farm, but his daughter,Mrs. C. B. Penney, wife of an engineer on theNorth Hudson County Railroad in New Jersey,makes her home with him, and looks after thefarm affairs, at the same time ministering to hiscomfort and maintaining an affectionate interestin his welfare. She possesses an unusual degreeof business tact and ability, and under her keenoversight the place is kept in splendid condition,the property proving as remunerative as any farmin the neighborhood. SHADRACH WASHINGTON, pastor1^ of the Baptist Church of Port Jervis, wasp\ born in Fayette County, Pa., June 28, 1830,and is a son of John and Sarah (Reed) Washing-ton. His grandfather, Lund Washington, was anative of Airginia, and a cousin of Gen. GeorgeWashington, their fathers being brothers. Anuncle of our subject, John Washington, was alsoborn in Virginia, but removed to Pennsylvaniain an early day, and served in both the Revolu-tion and the War of 1812, being an officer in thelatter under General Harmer.
