British Forces in the Middle East, 1945-1947 Sergeant Maurice Bass, supervising non-commissioned officer at the NAAFI Postal Records Headquarters, Abassia, near Cairo, overseas the packing of 'Voices of the Forces' discs in metal containers ready for transportation to the United Kingdom. On the discs were recorded New Year greetings from service personnel to their families. Each disc would be delivered to the family of a serviceman or woman only a few days after they were recorded.
