Hospital bed technology. Man adjusting an inflatable mattress that is part of a patient therapeutic management system. This bed is from the Nimbus range, produced by Huntleigh Healthcare. It is designed to enable the management of patients with conditions such as skin burns and ulcers. Varying inflation of different parts of the mattress avoids placing pressure on the wounds, allowing them to heal faster. The system can also be adjusted specifically to provide pressure reduction around the patient's head and heel areas. The Nimbus system was launched in 1989, and as of 2006 had reached the Nimbus 3 version. Huntleigh Healthcare is a global healthcare company registered in the UK.
