Theinlays are said to be by Riesener. On page 344 is a commode of ebony,decorated throughout with panels of Japaneselacquer, framed in mounts and ornaments ofgilt bronze, cast and chased. It rests uponlegs formed by the figures of sea-nymphsbearing cushions on their heads. The panelsof lacquer are half covered with zigzags andcircular wreaths of roses in gilt the lower part of the central panel is agroup, in low relief, of doves amorouslypecking as they rest on Cupids edges are enriched with hanging gar-lands of roses and other flowers in giltbronze. Tt is signed J. Dubois. This piece,which has the shape of a coffer or chest, hasbeen described as the Coffre de Manage. Console Table and Glass.
