Alas Purwo National Park has the status as a national Geopark since 2018 and is also a World Biosphere Reserve along with Ijen Crater which was established by Unesco in 2016. At the southern end of Alas Purwo, there is an area of Hindu sites inherited from the Majapahit Kingdom and the previous era, which the local community later built into a temple, a place of worship for Hindus. The site area, which is located in the Tegaldlimo District of Banyuwangi, is the remnants of the cultural wealth of Majapahit which was not destroyed by Demak, because it was hidden in the forest.
