The book-cover, reproduced on page 192, of Malorys Morte dArthur is one of the most elaborate,and it may be added one of the most successfulof those produced so far by Miss Adams. Thecover is of black pigskin and the feature of thedesign is the oak-tree, tooled in gold, which coversthe greater part of the surface. On the branchesof the tree hang the shields of King Arthur andeight of his knights tooled in gold and silver andgay with touches of positive colour. Beneath the
