Middle-aged man and blind spaniel dog called Toots
The two year-old spaniel (called Toots) developed blindness while in the care of a local gamekeeper. The dog was regarded as useless and due to be put down. Willie asked to take the dog from the gamekeeper and then set about arranging an operation to restore its eyesight. Willie had no money and the vet's (veterinarian's) fees were raised by running car boot sales. Toots can now see and leads a normal life. The gamekeeper asked for her back but was refused.
