While Mr. Taylor was in Brooklyn the ele-vated roads of the Brooklyn Rapid Transit were changed fromsteam to electric traction, involving the rebuilding of steamcoaches to electric motor cars, equipped with multiple-unit con-trol. Mr. Taylor has obtained, or has pending, the following. railway patents: Electric block signal system, air brake appa-ratus for multiple-unit trains, brake hanger for electric motortrucks, multiple-unit control for surface cars, curtain fixture foropen cars, method of electric car heating and combined electricand hot water car heating. MR. C. LOOMIS ALLEN, general manager of the Utica &Mohawk Valley Railway Company, the Rome City Street Rail-way Company and the Oneida Railway Company, has been electedvice-president and general manager of the Utica & Mohawk Val-ley Railway Company, the Rome City Street Railway Company,the Oneida Railway Company and the Syracuse Rapid TransitRailway Company, succeeding Mr. John J. Stanley, who has heldthat title since Mr. E. G. Connette resigned to go to appointments were made Dec. 6, by the directors of thefour companies interested.
