Charles Stewart Rolls, 1877 - 1910, aviation and motoring pioneer, co-founder of the Rolls-Royce car manufacturing firm. Rolls was killed in an air crash on July 10, 1910. The statue was designed by Welsh sculptor Sir William Goscombe John.
