Multibanded gneiss rocks on the shoreline of an island among the 30,000-island archipelago of the Georgian Bay, in Ontario, Canada. "Banner trees" have been sculpted by the strong winter winds. Rocks are part of the ancient Canadian Shield and have been worn smooth by glaciation during the Ice Age.
