Assembling CT scanner. Engineer assembling a CT (computed tomography) scanner. The machinery seen here will be used to produce cross-sectional images of patients' body tissues. A CT scanner, also known as a CAT (computed axial tomography) scanner, passes X-rays through the body at different angles. A computer then produces an image of the body tissues, which is used by radiographers in the diagnosis of medical conditions. This technique provides clearer and more detailed information than X-rays used by themselves.
