The ore of Soudan Hill, in the case of both the north and the southbodies, is apparently in pitching synclines. The impervious basementsare mainly the Ely greenstone. Associated with this greenstone arevarious intrusive rocks, among which are porphyry, and these mayhelp to form the basements. In some respects the Vermilion districtthus furnishes as good illustrations as are found in the Lake Superiorregion of ore deposits upon impervio
