The Kuthia or Kutia Kondh are one of the large number of tribal minority groups living in the Eastern Ghats of Orissa in Kuthia Kondh use a language of the Dravidian family. Most of the tribal habitat is hilly and forested whilst tribal economy is subsistence oriented combining hunting and collecting with shifting cultivation. Tribals freely practised shifting cultivation in their respective habitats assuming that land, forest, water and other natural resources belonged to them. Women wear traditional jewelry including elaborate ear rings and noserings and are often tattooed elaborately on their faces.
