St. Sepulchre's is the largest parish church in the City of London. The church has an important history dating back to 1137. It was the starting point for the Crusaders en route to Jerusalem. This particular church was built in 1450, during the reign of Henry VI. Its historic links with the Old Bailey throw up some surprisingly gruesome facts and the bell rung to wake prisoners on the morning of their execution can still be seen there. Nowadays, St. Sepulchre's is best known as the National Musicians' Church. With its excellent and thriving musical tradition, St. Sepulchre's has links with many music colleges and institutions, providing an important venue for musical events and a centre for musicians.
