Dilatation of the Stomach. — The occurrence of dilated stomach with mov-able right kidney was first described by Bartells, and Litteii considers that theformer frequently leads to the latter, as in forty cases of dilated stomach hefound the right kidney movable twenty-two times. In our own cases we foundmarkedly dilated stomach with movable right kidney twenty-four times, yet wc 482 MOVABLE KIDNEY. do not consider the cooccnrrence of the two very frequent. It seems far moreprobable that the dihited stomach is secondary to the abnormal kidney mobility,than that the kidney is made movable by a dilated stomach. Movable kidney then seems to depend on a number of predisposing andactive causes. The predisposing causes are especially body form and laxness ofthe supporting structures of the kidney.
