Much concern has been manifested during the last week or ten days on the part of the growers of bulb stock as to whether they are going to be able to secure their usual stock of bulbs. Assurances have been received from American agents, within a few days, that the bulbs will be forthcoming on time. Various Notes. William Cohen, with Smith, , the Florist, is taking a two weeks' vaca- tion, which he is spending at Newport and Block Island. The interior of the store of Johnston Bros, is being renovated and repainted, white and blue being the predominant colors. Edward O'Brien has gone to Utica, N. Y., where he will remain for a three weeks' vacation. Mr. Pierce, representing Lord & Burnham Co., arrived Saturday morn- ing, August 15, to superintend the erec- tion of the new house for Joseph Kop- pelman, at East Providence. Wilham Wilkinson, of Fall Eiver, was a business visitor here last week and reported he was about to build a small greenhouse, 20x50 feet. Max Fishelton, of M. Fishelton & Son, Boston, is spending a few weeks' vacation with relatives on Narragan- sett bay. Miss Kreickstein, bookkeeper for Jo- seph Koppelman, is spending a fort- night's vacation in eastern Pennsyl- vania. F. Macrae's Sons are devoting more time and glass to lilies, to the exclu- sion of mums, which have previously been featured. They will continue to raise the usual quantities of carna- tions.
