This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Martian canyon rim. Mars Express image of the rim of the Eos Chasma (Eos Canyon) on Mars. Higher ground is at right, and lower ground at left. The walls of the canyon are many kilometres high, larger than the Grand Canyon on Earth. This area is several hundred kilometres wide. Three large impact craters are seen. Eos Chasma is the eastern end of the enormous Valles Marineris (Mariner Valley) canyon system on the Martian equator. Mars is a cold, desert world. Image data from the High Resolution Stereo Camera. Mars Express has been orbiting Mars since December 2003.
