Monroe contains twenty-foiu: sections and eleven parts of sec-tions, being four and a half miles from north to south, and sixand five-eighths miles east and west, embracing about 19,0(X)acres. The greater part lies in the Mississiuewa Valley, onlyone mile wide at the southern part, draining to White River, and even that has scarcely any streams—only Big Run on theeast side of the township, and Phillips Run in the extreme west, being large enough to find a place on the county map. The Mississinewa Valley seems well occupied by Creek, Mud Creek, Bush Creek, Elkhorn (with severalbranches) and some others draining and watering the northernpart of the township. ,t^i,l ]5^10>H0E ,P ^^^^^^i^^.
