A six or eight-horse power engine will drive a sawbench very well if good fuel is to be had, but if it is intended to use the waste wood as fuel, an engineand boiler of double the size should be provided. The economy of working with refuse fuel will ofcourse cover the additional cost of the engine many times over ; but if it be attempted to secure theadvantage without the necessary outlay, of course delay and disappointment must be the result.
