This car, or drop table truck, as it maybe called, resembles an engine truck inso-far that it is a four-wheeled vehicle witha strong, heavy webbed steel casting or carries a heavy webbed steel castingwhich supports the drop table. The droptable casting is 3 ft. long and each sidecarries a pair of I-beams 10 ins. deepplaced side by side, capped and based byyi-in. cover plates. On the top of theupper cover plates are the locomotivetrack rails, 75 lbs. to the yard. The truckwheels are 18 ins. in diameter and thespread of the wheels is 60 ins. The axlesof this truck have extension ends whichterminate in squares upon which a ratchetlever can be slipped, in order to move thetiuck back and forth as desired. Thetruck is made with inside bearings likean engine truck, and the ratchet levers goon outside the wheels. The drop table truck has, as we havesaid, a large centre casting made in onepiece with the ribbed truck plate. Thiscentre piece is a cylinder 15 ins. in diam-eter and 24 ins. deep.
