Buildings in the core section of Kathmandu Nepal. Some are older buildings but the newer buildings are made of brick and concrete and usually of poor construction. It is estimated that when there is a big earthquake like the that occurred in 1934 there will be 40 000 deaths and 100 000 casualties in Kathmandu valley. In 1934 there were 300 000 people living in Kathmandu valley and now there are million. The small passage ways where people are prone to being trapped by falling debris will be especially dangerous.
