A tall monument of Lord Feversham - Charles Duncombe stands in the middle of Market Place in the small market town of Helmsley set on the southern boundary of the North York Moors National Park in Britain. Lord Feversham of nearby Duncombe Park estate, was a former Tory member of Parliament and landowner. Helmsley, popular with visitors, is full of history with a medieval castle ruin, and architecture (including 51 listed buildings). Helmsley had a thriving linen weaving industry along Borough Beck water (narrow stream with a small bridge). The water from the stream was drawn during the production of linen. The only reminder of the industry is the Dyers bridge.
