Zhongdian Yunnan Province China
Zhongdian is also known as Shangrila and the town is split between Tibetan and Han Chinese residents, as well as a fair smattering of Naxi, Bai, Yi and Lisu, with the surrounding countryside entirely Tibetan. The name changed in 2001 in an attempt to increase tourism. It is an old and relatively unspoilt environment where little development has taken place. There are streams and water courses in the streets.
