Ottawa, Canada. June 21st, 2020. Kayaker surrounded by algeas on the Rideau Canal. With lower traffic than usual a green algae is growing on Rideau Canal in the centre of the city. The algae crop could be the result of a combination of factors such as warmer temperatures and lower boat traffic due to the on-going pandemic with the canal just reopening three weeks ago. The blooms, know as green filamentous algae, are not toxic and are mainly an aesthetic issue at this point. Credit: meanderingemu/Alamy Live News
