Joseph Warren Keifer ( 1836 – 1932) was a major general during the Spanish–American War, fought in the American Civil War and was a prominent politician during the 1880's, serving as Speaker of the House of Representatives. He was a lawyer. Following his military career, on May 12, 1899, he published Slavery and Four Years of War
