Over 200 medical marijuana supporters picket San Jose City Hall as the city council considered banning most cannabis clubs


The founder of Union Local 13, a union created for workers involved with the cultivation and distribution of medical marijuana pickets in front of the San Jose City Hall in California. On Tuesday, June 22, 2010, More than 200 medical marijuana users and supporters marched around the San Jose City Hall before the City Council met to consider an emergency city ordinance limiting medical marijuana and dispensaries. The city ordinance would limit the total number of marijuana dispensaries to 10, currently there are more than 60 in San Jose. In 1996 California passed the United States first state law allowing the use of marijuana for medical reasons. The 2010 California Ballot will include a state law called “Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010” which if passed would make it legal for any Californian over 21 years of age to posses up to one ounce of marijuana and to grow up to 25 square feet of marijuana per residence.
