Charcot foot. X-ray of the foot of a 69 year old male patient with neuropathic arthropathy of the foot, also known as Charcot foot. This is a progressive degeneration of a weight-bearing joint that is most often caused by diabetes. It causes weakening of the bones and leads to the joints collapsing and changing shape. It can lead to severe deformity and may require amputation.
