Dutchman's Stern gets its name because in profile it looks like a galleon. There are a few waymarked routes to the summit and around the hill. In the middle distance are some yakka plants. The Yakka, or Xanthorrhoea is a genus of flowering plants native to Australia and a member of family Xanthorrhoeaceae. They are monocots, part of order the Asparagales which includes the hyacinth. The stems grow tall as the previous year's growth is kept as a stump. These stumps eventually turn black and the tallest can be several feet high. Some Australians call them "Black Boys" because of their size and colour.
