The paddy fields in the backwaters of the Kuttanad district, described as the Rice Bowl in Kerela, India. The harvest of brown rice starts from November to February, and the workers begin their day at 8 am until 2 pm each day. The brown rice is for the Indian home market. Kuttanad is well known for its picturesque vast paddy fields and one of the few places in the world where farming is carried out below sea level (between 4 – 10 feet).
