Hydrodynamic aircraft test (First of 3 images). Start of a test of a model of the Future Super- sonic Transport Aircraft (ATSF), the proposed successor to Concorde, in a hydrodynamic tunnel. Streams of dye are used to show the flow of water over the surface of the model, their colour indicating their point of origin. This equipment flushes 2000 litres of water along the model's fuselage every 10 seconds. The flow of water over the surface of the fuselage indicates what the air flow would be like over a full-sized aircraft. Photographed at the National Office for the Study and Research of Aerospace (ONERA) in Chatillon, France. (See photo's T612/159 & T613/160).
