Seventeenth century hand-coloured engraving of constellational Arctophilax, based on the Aratus manuscript of the 9th century, in Leiden. Aratus was born in 315BC in Soli, and wrote his 'Phaenomena' for the ruler of Macedonia, Antigonus Gonatas.
