Prince Henri d'Orleans (1867-1901) and Gabriel Bonvalot (1853-1933). 1904 illustration of the French explorers Prince Henri d'Orleans (right) and Gabriel Bonvalot (left) in Tibet during their 1889 expedition. During this expedition Bonvalot became one of the first Europeans to visit the Tibetan plateau. Prince Henri accompanied Bonvalot as his photographer and botanist.
