These columns are all that remains of the Cherokee National Female Seminary in Tahlequah, Oklahoma which burned in April of 1887. The Seminary was the first institution of higher learning for women west of the Mississippi and showed the commitment of the Cherokee to education. The Seminary site is now the Cherokee National Museum.
