BRANN, , the present pas-tor of Fort Wasliington and Kingsbrldge, wasborn on Augaist 15, 1837, in Parkstown, County Meatli,Ireland. He came as a boy to this country with hisparents. His classical studies were made in St. MarysCollege, Wilmington, Delaware, and in St. Francis Xa-viers College, West Fifteenth Street, New York, where hewas graduated in 1857. He was originally intended forthe law; but an accident in which he was nearly killed,by the falling of a house in Jersey City, during athunder-storm, turned his mind to the more holy callingof the priesthood.
