The Banded Pitta is a member of a group of birds in the Pittidae family that were formerly lumped as a single species and is one of the most beautiful species in Thailand. It is confined to lowland forests up to about 600 metres in the southern peninsula. This image is of the female and was taken on a partly dried up stream bed in Si Phang Nga National Park in Phang Nga Province in Southern Thailand.
