Saunders, Moose Jaw,a familiar figure at previous conventions,was greatly missed this year. Beingabsent on his holidays he was unable toattend, but a well-deserved honor wasdone him in his election to the positionof Second Vice-President. Another dele-gate greatly missed this year was Wil-liam Pearce, of Calgary, who was pre-vented from attending bv his .absence in. Group of Delegates in Attendance at the Fifth Annual Convention of the Associated Boards of Trade of Western Canada. were worthy of the serious and carefulconsideration of the best business menof the West, and the debates were of ahigh order of merit. As in formeryears, the various Boards of Traide ofSaskatchewan and Alberta towns sentto the convention their best business mencapable of giving expert information onmost of the topics under consideration. Transportation questions bulked largein the discussions, and, fortunately, therewere present by special invitation W. B.• Lanigan, of the , and Geo. , of the Canadian Northern. Sev-eral misunderstandings were cleared upby the heart to heart talks that resulted,and, as a result of the conference, th« calls upon the Provincial Governmentsto take steps to secure the early con-struction of colonization railways.
