Young Boy in Blue Jeans and Long Sleeve Red Shirt Complains while Sweeping Sidewalk as the Sun Sets in Puerto Las Cabos Mexico
After walking over a bridge from the Wirikuta Desert Botanical Garden in Puerto Las Cabos Mexico into a glorious setting sun, I happened to direct my attention to some commotion with a family ahead of me. As it turns out (from what I can surmise), a young Mexican boy is crying and yelling at his parents. The child is on the sidewalk with a broom and refusing to sweep the sidewalk. Defiant and determined, he struck a pose of no surrender and planted his grey broom into the cemented pathway. He then continues to reason and disobey his parents. The parents are also engage in this “battle of wills” however; as parents we know a child’s will power can put be broken with reason. This young protester and his parents were well into their heated battle long after I passed them and took this photograph and as their voices faded as I continued my journey back to the bus stop… I smiled inwardly about my childhood battles with my parents and my children battles with me. As a wise person once told me… “Remember when you stand up for yourself “Pick Your Battles”… This was not one of those Battles.
