Description: The photograph shows the Nantucket Light Vessel No. 85 located in the 2nd Lighthouse District, about forty miles southeast of Nantucket Island. This is a typical example of a light vessel transferred to the Navy Department by order of the President on April 11, 1917. It was later transferred to the 2nd Naval District.
