Engraving of Georg Moritz Ebers (1837-1898), German Egyptologist and author. In 1862 Ebers discovered an Ancient Egyptian papyrus that contained the most complete description of Egyptian medicine known. The papyrus, which is also known as Ebers papyrus, was found in Luxor and dated to around 1570 BC.
