Skelton Tower, the romantic ruins of a folly on Levisham Moor, overlooking Newtondale and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Skelton Tower was built in 1830 by Rev. Robert Skelton, the rector of Levisham. Intended as a shooting lodge, it is thought the rector used it as an escape where he could write his sermons undisturbed.
