SAINTS - MARY MAGDALENE Saint Mary Magdalena, the close follower, if not friend, of Christ, is depicted here in her two most important Biblical roles, both connected with the death of Christ - [top] at the tomb, where the Risen Christ warns her not to touch him [Noli me tangere]. Below, she does service at the empty tomb, presumably after she had gone to anoint His body (the pot of ointment is one of her important emblems). Magdalene is patron of repentant sinners.
