The most proximal part of the column is rounded, broader than the other part of the body and totally cuticle-clad (Pi. i, fig. 36). Scattered nemathybomes appear also in the most proximal end which is more soUd than the other part of the body. The proximal end imperceptibly fuses into the other part of the scapus, the cuticle of which is also strong.
