DE - NORTH-RHINE-WESTPHALIA: Vischering Castle
Mediaeval moated fortress near Lüdinghausen, which, however, only acquired its present-day appearance after it had been rebuilt in the years following 1520. The upper part of the castle complex with its circular walls and former defensive battlements is surrounded by a moat. More than other castles of its kind in Westphalia, Burg Vischering conveys a vivid impression of how well-fortified such buildings were.
